Summer Reading
Okay, so summer is almost here and I need to make a list of books that I plan to read. I usually set a goal and try to read that many books by the end of the summer. Last year, my goal was 15 books. This year, I plan to read approximately 20 books. I need to start my list now. I am currently reading Sophie Kinsella's Remember Me?. It is a fantastic book and I highly recommend this author. She wrote the shopaholic series. So I plan to read my 20 books and blog about each one over the summer. Any great book recommendations would be much appreciated. My favorite is Chick-lit, but I read everything. I think I may start off with a James Patterson book. I love Patterson. Especially, the women's murder club series. That is also fantastic series and I highly recommend it! The last series that I love (and terribly breaks my heart that there are no more new books) is the Harry Potter series. I read the new book every summer and this summer there isn't a new book...*sigh* (sniff...sniff). Anyway, let me know what you plan to read this summer. Maybe we can read and discuss some great books over the summer!!!! Happy Reading.
New Harry Potter Movie coming out this summer...
Get ready for Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. Are you excited? I sure am!!!! Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince set to be realised on July 17, 2009!!!! Mark you calendars and get ready to get your tickets early. I love Harry and his wonderful adventures. I really miss reading Harry Potter. Over the last three summers, I would read the Harry Potter series. This summer, I will miss not having a new Harry Potter book to read (at least there is the new movie!). If you are interested in a sneak peak of the movie, you can find three movie trailers on this website (my favorite is trailer #1):

Great pair of pearl earrings and an upcoming sale at Ann Taylor/Ann Taylor Loft
Well, I love pearl jewelry. Okay, truth be told, I just love jewelry. So, when I received the email that the jewelry store, Zales, had Honora 9.0-9.5mm button pearls on clearance for $12.99, I went to my local store and bought a pair. They have them on their site too. Great value and a lovely way to accessorize your wardrobe. You can never go wrong with classy pearls.

Mother's day is coming up
So it is that time of year again. Mother's day is right around the corner. How are you planning to celebrate? My top ideas are the following:
1) Jewelry is always on the top of most women's lists. I would highly recommend jewelry. So many stores have great sales going on at the moment. I would recommend Macy's because they have such great sales. If you shop online their have free shipping for any jewelry purchase of $125 or more. Also, check around for other coupon codes on sites such as www.retailmenot.com
2) Fragrance is another hot item on most women's lists. I would highly recommend a clean, fresh scent or a soft floral scent. My top picks are Prada Infusion D' Iris, Chanel #5, Vera Wang, Dolce and Gabbana's Light blue, and any of the Jo Malone fragrances.
3) A day at the spa or hair salon. This way Mom can have a relaxing day without the kids. Check around for local spas or salons in your area.
4) A lovely dinner or lunch would surely brighten mom's day! I would recommend that you try a place that you have never visited before. You will have a memorable Mother's Day when you try something new. Look for an Italian, Caribbean, Japanese, or other exotic restaurant.
5) Local organizations will be participating in Relay for Life on the weekend of Mother's Day. This is one of the biggest cancer fundraising events. I would highly recommend this event. It is a great way to meet people, raise awareness, and raise funds to eliminate cancer. Spend Mother's Day volunteering during this event. It will be a fun way to give back to your community and also an experience that will never be forgotten. Check out the American Cancer Society to find the local event in your area.

Good Customer Service and Proper Etiquette
You know, there is something to be said about great customer service and proper etiquette. On tax day (I know my first mistake!), I went to pick up a package at the post office. I was standing in a long line for something that would have taken all of 5 minutes to pick up. So there was this lady who worked at the post office, so I asked her if she could get my package. She told me "no, and that I needed to stand back in line." So, I get back in line and it is almost my turn. I am the next person to be called, when the lady comes back and tells me she can get my package. She goes to get the package and then helps this other lady that is in front of me. Well, I was annoyed because she called me over to the counter and she wasn't even ready to help me. She was helping someone else. So I wasted even more time. Finally, the lady was ready to help me and she just slammed my package on the desk. I was thinking "hello! that is fragile!" So, I'm like geesh, whatever happened to good customer service?
I would also like to say that proper etiquette has gone out of the window too! The other day at school, I was sitting and enjoying my lunch, when all of a sudden this girl comes and sits down. I was annoyed because she did not ask if the seats were taken. Also, she just assumed it was okay. I'm like WTH! Granted, no one was joining me, but still, she should have asked. Luckily, her friend asked, was it okay to join me. His girlfriend told him, "well aren't you the polite one." UGH! Such awful manners.
So the reason that I posted these because I'm so sick of people without proper etiquette. Please allow a pregnant woman to sit on the train. If someone is holding something in their hands, please open the door for them. When someone, opens the door for you, remember to say "Thank You!" I mean these are common courteous acts. Also, if you work with people, remember to have great customer service skills. In the long run, proper manners and custom service will pay off!

Book Spotlight: Remember Me? by Sophie Kinsella
I am currently reading Remember Me? by Sophie Kinsella. She is the wonderful author that wrote Confessions of a Shopaholic series. Both books are great summer/chick lit readings. This author is absolutely fantastic and I would highly recommend her if you like chick lit that is funny and a very light read. She is absolutely wonderful. Remember Me? is about 25 year old working gal with a snaggle tooth named, Lexi Smart, that has had an accident that caused her to have amnesia. She later wakes up in the hospital at the age of 28 with a multimillionaire husband, a great job, perfect teeth, perfect hair, and perfect body. So you ask, " how does all of that happen?" Well, you need to pick up Sophie Kinsella's book to find out! If you want to discuss the book, please feel free to do so!

Current Exhibits at the High Museum of Art
Now is the perfect time to visit the High Museum of Art. Currently, the Museum is hosting the exhibit, The First Emperor. The exhibit is fascinating and is a great example of art and history. The exhibit is specifically focused on the excavation of China's First Emperor's, Qin Shi Huangdi, tomb. Quin Shi Huangdi is considered the "man that created China." Many of the historical pieces found are the terracotta soldiers (approximately 1,000), tiles, and weapons. Unfortunately, the museum's exhibit is closing soon (April 2009). I highly recommend that you all go to this exhibit before it leaves Atlanta.
Also, the museum has an exhibit on the Louvre. If you have never been to Paris, this will be a perfect opportunity to see beautiful paintings and sculptures. The Louvre is a beautiful museum that holds some of the world's greatest paintings. I highly recommend that those that are near the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, take advantage of this opportunity. This exhibit stays until September 2009.
In general, I highly recommend that visitors of Atlanta make a point to visit the High Museum. It has fascinating artwork and many interesting exhibits.
If you went to the First Emperor exhibit, let me know your opinion on the exhibit! Also, if you have gone to the Louvre exhibit, give me your opinion!!!
